Canoe Fishing Kawnipi and Agnes Lakes Quetico Spring Fishing | Days 10-14

#canoefishing #agneslake #springfishing Eric and I spend days 10-14 canoe fishing Kawnipi and Agnes Lakes in Quetico for some spring fishing excitement. The theme of this trip was wind and rain, especially the last 5 days of the trip. Despite the difficult weather, we experienced world class fishing every single day! Our first full day on Kawnipi was some of the best smallmouth fishing I've ever experienced. Eric and I likely caught more than a dozen fish over 18" with Eric landing a monster 21", 5.5lbs behemoth and his personal best. The walleye fishing around moving water and wind-blown shorelines was dynamite, with a dozen fish 18-23". We had one tough day of fishing on this trip, and it was the second day on Kawnipi Lake. We trolled around all day long and only caught 3 walleyes (I got skunked). However, Eric caught his personal best Northern Pike at 42.75", setting another personal record for the second day in a row. From Kawnipi, we move on to Murdoch Lake where the fishing was on fire! Everything came together for us that day. We caught fish in shallow, moving water on the North side of the lake. We caught fish deeper along flats next to islands, caught fish in the shallow water from shore, and finally got into a nest of Smallmouth at the moving water on the south side of the lake, coming from the Agnes River. It was an epic day of fishing Eric and I will never forget. 40 walleyes. Over 85 Smallmouth. Our final two days in the Park we spend Lake Trout fishing on the North side of Agnes Lake, dodging wind and rainstorms. We get 3-4" of rain, but get into some wonderfully aggressive Lake Trout. Trolling for lakers hasn't been that productive for us since we left Louisa, so we switch to sharp shooting larger trout over deep water. We catch two dozen or so the final two days, with plenty of chunky 4-6lbs fish.
