I Took My 4 Year Old on a 5 Day Algonquin Backcountry Canoe Trip to Catch his First Wild Trout
#BrookTrout #CanoeTrip #Backcountry His First Brook Trout | Father & Son 5 Day Algonquin Backcountry Canoe Trip This spring I packed up my four-year-old son Hudson, our dog North, and headed deep into the backcountry on a five-day canoe trip. The route covered nearly 30km with close to 6km of portaging — and the conditions didn't make it easy. Cold temps, wind, waves, and even a snowfall made sure we earned it. But we were on a mission: get Hudson his very first brook trout, all by himself. Along the way we explored a 100-year-old abandoned sawmill and the remnants of an old logging camp, shared plenty of campfires, and fried up a few good fish. On the evening of Day 3 — after a lot of hard work — Hudson finally got his moment. And the fish was a beauty. #FamilyAdventure #BrookTrout #CanoeTrip #Portaging #Backcountry #FlyFishing #SpringFishing #KidsOutdoors #CanoeCamping #WildernessCanada #TroutFishing #OutdoorDad 🏔️ ➰ ⛺️ Follow me on social media: 🎞️ Instagram: / jbadventurer 📸 Facebook: / jbadventurer 🕺 tiktok: / jbadventurer 🥾 ➰ 🛶 🎥 Check out some more of my family videos here: 👉 Family in the Wilderness: Six Years of Family Backcountry Adventures • Growing Up Wild - a 6-Year Family Adventur... 👉 Five Weeks at out Off-Grid Cabin: • A Remote Cabin to Call Our Own: Off-Grid L... 👉 Into Alaska: 10-Days on the Wild Stikine River • Into Alaska | 10-Days Family Camping on th... 🎣 ➰ 🏕️ 📖 Buy my e-Book Here: https://www.theadventurer.com/product... 🛒 Check out my Amazon shop here: https://www.amazon.ca/shop/jimbaird-a... 🌲 ➰ 🪵 Chapters: 0:00 Stuff that Happened to us on this Trip! 0:56 Dodging Scary Big Waves Right at the Put-In! 4:27 The Portaging Starts - Will We Make it to Camp Before Dark? 9:44 Getting to Our First Campsite, Setting up Camp & What's for Dinner? 12:07 "Dinosaur Oatmeal is Way too Cool for a Little Boy to Handle" 16:47 Exploring the Remains of a 100-year Old Logging Camp Along the Portage Trail 17:48 Big Battle with a Tank Lake Trout 20:52 Exploring the Remains of an Old Abandoned Building that Feels Very Out of Place 22:36 Getting to Camp & a Delicious Fish Fry Over the Fire 24:37 Tough Fishing in Cold Weather & Lunch at Camp 29:03 All our Work Pays off!
