It's curious that the brands that took the longest to get around to launching a car of this type, which are none other than the German premium brands, are the last to stick with it. The 2 Series Active Tourer represented a complete departure from what we understood as a traditional BMW: It was front-wheel drive and had a body style unbecoming of a car with its logo. But the reality is that, despite being very little BMW, it still managed to be the most BMW-like minivan on the market. Personally, I wouldn't have bet on the Bavarians revamping this model, but they have, applying their entire new aesthetic and technical code to refresh a model that has lived for years in the commercial shadow of the X1 and X2 SUVs, more expensive products but almost identical in every way except their aesthetic language.
