【ぐるりの暮らし】#58「しめ縄をつくる」～田んぼで採れた稲わらで、毎年しめ縄づくりをします。縄を綯う（なう）のは誰でも出来る楽しい作業です。簡単な縄綯いの方法をお伝えしています。

Every year in December, we make shimenawa. We use the straw that is harvested in September and threshed in October. This video mainly introduces the "left-side braiding" technique used for shimenawa. There are various methods and techniques for making shimenawa, but there seem to be significant regional differences, and no one method is correct. Also, since the ropes are burned at Kagami Biraki and Matsunouchi, it's difficult for any records to remain. I only have a little over 10 years of experience, and I don't have particularly advanced skills, but I cherish braiding rope as a way to utilize the straw that is a by-product of my rice paddies, and as a time to give thanks to the earth and feel hopeful for the new year.
