It feels so good to be back. Today, we went to Choeng Mon Beach, here in Koh Samui. After Grab dropped me off, I ducked in to 7-eleven to grab a nice cold water, then walked the short distance to the beach access road. On the way, I regretted eating breakfast before I arrived. There was a great little cafe that looked popular and even better, a man with a grill at the road to the beach itself. I heard the beach dogs before I saw them. They are more active when it's cool, and this pack was out to have lots of fun bossing each other around and digging for crabs to eat. There are many beach clubs on the beach you can get a day pass to hang out on the beach with sunbeams or at their pools. Plus resorts like Melia, SALA and the Kimpton Kitalay. All of those places open later in the morning, so we got to see many of them getting ready for the day's customers. I've been having a very hard time wrestling with what to do now that we're relocated and are settled back in. Walks are still unfortunately off the table. And that was hard, let's be real. I have spent time trying other things and I think maybe we're getting closer with this one. Still making you feel what it's like to be there, just not in a walking way. It was low tide today, so many of the dinghies that supply the yachts in the bay were beached and waiting for a little higher water levels to head back to their boats. A few locals were even wading to fish along the rock jetty and the island that Cape Fahn Resort is on was accessible by walking across the sandbar. I headed out before the heat started to build to be too much. I'm still figuring out the shape of this new version of Jing Jing Po. I still miss our walks so much, but the medical issue means we're not doing continuous walks anymore. Hybrids like this though still feel like we're exploring together.
