AmaHlubi mark start of initiation season
The AmaHlubi nation in the Eastern Cape has celebrated the start of the initiation season. Members of the tribe gathered at Silindini village in Sterkspruit, to pledge their commitment to ensuring the safety of initiates. Since the start of the winter initiation season in the province, at least three initiates have died. The AmaHlubi has also emphasised the importance of women participating in the initiation custom.
