The Death Trap (Square, 1984, PC-88) playthrough [translated]
A full playthrough of Square's first ever game, The Death Trap, fully translated. To think that this is where the legend of Square started, with a James Bond-esque graphic adventure... who'd've thought. Disclaimer: The translation was done by me, and therefore may not be of the highest quality, but I tried my best to make it both accurate and understandable to english speakers (or readers in this case). My thoughts: The story and flow of this game is quite good, with lots of fairly interesting things and characters around to keep things from becoming boring. Though, the ending to it all feels somewhat anti-climactic. Graphics are also real nice, really showing the best of PC-88 in 1984. The lack of sound, however, is quite a shame, as it leaves the game feeling somewhat empty. I should also note that I used a guide to beat the game, and I quite honestly have no idea how one is supposed to beat the game without a guide. Given these kinds of adventure games are not my strong suite (I have never been able to beat even one on my own), but some of the things you have to do are just plain impossible to guess (like how am I supposed to guess I not only can but HAVE TO build a hang-glider to get to the island). Overall, I would say it's a pretty decent adventure game if you're into that, if not... well, here's a full playthrough so you don't have to play it yourself.
