One of the crowd favorites at the time was Andreas Fuhrmann from St. Wendel, with his Steyr Puch touring car with only 58 hp, known as "the flying shopping swap". In 1983, Karl Jordan and Walter Pedrazza (both Formula 2) fought for overall victory. To the astonishment of many local heroes, Dieter Martin came third with his March Formula Super Vee.
