Nagdulot ng matinding trahedya ang sunog sa Ozone Disco sa Quezon City noong Marso 18, 1996. Umabot sa 162 katao ang nasawi, karamihan sa mga biktima mga estudyanteng nagdiriwang ng pagtatapos ng kanilang klase sa kolehiyo. Kasunod ng pangyayari, agad na siniyasat ang ilang entertainment establishments sa Quezon City, kung saan napag-alamang marami ang walang fire exits. Kasabay nito, may mga establisimyento rin sa ibang lugar ang ipinasara dahil sa paglabag sa itinakdang kapasidad ng lungsod.
