In this video, we'll visit the vibrant Zhengyang Pedestrian Street, also known as Zhengyang Walking Street, a prominent shopping & tourist destination located in the city of Guilin in Guangxi province, China. Surrounded by less important pedestrian streets such as Yiren Road, Zhengyang Road is the most well known walking street in Guilin & is an epicenter for bars & restaurants as well as shopping & entertainment. Construction & paving of the street was started back in 1999 & it was opened to the public on January 1st, 2001 with a total length of 666 m (2,185 ft). The landmark red bell tower or clock tower of Guilin was also completed at that time & the area around it forms the central plaza of this walking street. On this popular walking street, visitors can shop & barhop while also immersing themselves in the dynamic & diverse culinary culture of Guilin, which is a multi-ethnic city with a sizeable population of Hmong (or Miao 苗族), Yao (瑶族), Dong (侗族) & Zhuang (壮族) people, each with their own flavorful cuisines. That said, I recommend starting with the Guilin rice noodles which are well known throughout China. As far as I know, the Guilin rice noodles (桂林米粉) here on Zhengyang street are the tastiest & most authentic in the city. It's also a bit more expensive but cleaner due to the large number of tourists & foreigners who visit.
