Meet Team USA: The First Official U.S. Working Equitation Team Headed to the 2026 World Championships in Spain History is being made for the sport of Working Equitation in the United States. For the first time ever, USA Working Equitation (USAWE) has selected an official U.S. team to compete at the 2026 WAWE World Championships in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. The prestigious event will take place at the legendary Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, one of the most iconic equestrian venues in the world. The announcement marks a major milestone for the rapidly growing sport in America. On May 14, 2026, USA Working Equitation officially introduced the riders who will represent the United States on the international stage. Kimberlee Barker Kimberlee Barker enters the World Championships as one of the most accomplished Working Equitation competitors in the United States. A longtime horsewoman, trainer, and coach, Barker has spent years helping develop the sport in America while competing at the highest levels herself. Known for her precision, horsemanship, and ability to produce highly educated horses, Barker has become a respected mentor to riders across the country. Her experience in both competition and coaching makes her an invaluable asset to Team USA as they prepare to face some of the strongest Working Equitation nations in the world. Kimberlee’s partnership with her horses reflects the core values of Working Equitation: harmony, responsiveness, and technical excellence. Many equestrians first became familiar with Matt through his work with American Mustangs. Before becoming a leading Working Equitation competitor, Matt spent years performing and training horses professionally, including work associated with Medieval Times. That foundation in classical horsemanship and horse training has translated exceptionally well to the technical demands of Working Equitation.
