We’re Turning This Empty Trailer Into an Off-Grid Basecamp

We’re turning an empty 7x14 cargo trailer into the ultimate off-grid adventure rig — part mobile workshop, part gear garage, part future podcast studio, and part basecamp on wheels. This is where the cargo trailer conversion officially begins. In this episode, we start transforming our aluminum enclosed trailer from a plain empty box into a functional adventure setup that will eventually support a 48-volt power system, solar panels, mountain bikes, camera gear, tools, storage, and a mobile working space for life on the road. This is not just a “how-to” cargo trailer build. We’re bringing you along for the whole story — the planning, the problems, the progress, the mistakes, the ideas, and the dream behind building a mobile off-grid rig that can support our travels, video production, and outdoor adventures. In this first phase of the trailer conversion, we begin working through the early build steps, including framing, insulation planning, layout decisions, and how we’re thinking about weight, storage, power, and future upgrades. If you enjoy cargo trailer conversions, off-grid living, RV life, overlanding setups, mobile workspaces, tiny home ideas, DIY trailer builds, adventure rigs, or behind-the-scenes build stories, this series is for you. This 7x14 cargo trailer is going to become a major part of our travel setup — hauling bikes, gear, tools, and eventually housing the electrical system and workspace we need to keep creating from the road. Follow along as we turn this empty trailer into our ultimate adventure rig.
