Can a Table Saw Make Clean Mortises? | Pallet Wood Table Build

I built this small pallet-wood table as a matching stand for two planter boxes, using mortise-and-tenon joints made almost entirely on the table saw. The main experiment was cutting full dado channels into the legs, then filling most of each channel with matching timber to leave clean, accurately sized mortises. It was my alternative to attempting traditional chisel-cut mortises with chisels that are neither particularly sharp nor well handled. I also cut tapered legs for the first time using a simple L-bracket attached to the mitre gauge at eight degrees. The apron tenons were cut with the dado stack, adjusted with a sanding block and assembled into a surprisingly respectable table base. The tabletop was made from reclaimed boards using a sticky-tape panel glue-up, attached with pocket screws and finished with Monocel Gold exterior marine varnish. Along the way, the joints were too tight, the project took around eight weeks longer than expected, and one of the tabletop screws went directly into the workbench. Built from reclaimed pallet timber in a small workshop in New Zealand. #palletwood #Woodworking #MortiseAndTenon #ReclaimedTimber #diyfurnituremakeover 🙌 Support My Work 💖 Like, comment, and subscribe!
