EL PUEBLO QUE PROTEGE EL MAR: la historia detrás del Santuario de Acandí

Behind the expansion of the Acandí, Playón, Playona, San Francisco, and Cabo Tiburón Sanctuary lies decades of work by the Cocomanorte, Cocomaseco, and Cocomasur Community Councils. This is the story of how the Afro-Colombian communities of Chocó, together with National Natural Parks and partners like WWF Colombia, built a conservation model based on territory, culture, and well-being. It's an example of how conserving nature and protecting the rights of communities is not only possible, but essential. This work is made possible thanks to the support of the Herencia Colombia program.
