The Community of Madrid is experiencing one of the snowfalls few can remember. A total of almost 20 centimeters of snow is expected to accumulate. This Friday, the AEMET (Mexico City State Agency) defined one of the "largest" episodes recorded in recent years, caused by the Atlantic storm Filomena. In addition, Madrid has been on red alert for heavy snowfall since this afternoon. Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez Almeida has asked people to stay home in a tweet. "It is important that people stay home starting this afternoon. The situation on the streets is not good," the mayor of Madrid City Council acknowledged. M-40 and M-30 closed, airport closed The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has announced black-level traffic jams on sections of the M-40, where several cars have been blocked due to the snowfall caused by Storm Filomena.
