The Liepāja-Aizpute narrow-gauge railway line used to be called the Baron's Train. How so? Construction of the line was finished by 1898 by the Liepāja-Aizpute railway company, owned at that time by the most influential Kurzeme nobles, as well as heads of Liepāja and Aizpute cities. It was the only narrow-gauge line in the Kurzeme governorate and current territory of the Latvian Republic, with the width of rails typical of the narrow-gauge railways of the German Empire. The line was opened in 1900, but closed in 1964. We will take a look at what is currently happening at the former stations of Lieģi, Dzērve and Aizpute.
