By 2022, a second dam downstream was gone too. And within weeks of the last barrier falling, something happened in the river that scientists had spent decades predicting, but were still not fully prepared to witness. Sea lampreys, European eels, and Atlantic salmon, species that had been cut off from the upper Sélune for over 90 years, began appearing upstream.
