Castiglioncello di Moraduccio is a charming ghost town located in the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines, in the municipality of Firenzuola (FI). Abandoned in the 1950s and finally in 1962, the village, perched on the Santerno River, boasts well-preserved ruins, including the church of SS. Giovanni e Paolo, visible after a short walk. Characteristics and History: Location: Situated on a rocky ridge above the Santerno River, near Moraduccio (Firenzuola). Origin: Founded in the Middle Ages (9th century), it was an important strategic and customs hub between Romagna and Tuscany. Abandonment: Depopulation occurred due to the lack of modern connections (electricity), with the village finally abandoned around 1962. Current Status: The village is partially ruined, surrounded by nature and dominated by the bell tower of the old parish church.
