2025.11.3/ベッチャー祭/御神輿/獅子舞/尾道市/November 3, 2025 / Becher Festival / Mikoshi / Lion Dance / Onomichi City 今回は広島県尾道市のベッチャー祭の紹介です。 This time we will introduce the Becher Festival in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. 吉備津彦神社(きびつひこじんじゃ)（一宮神社）の祭り。 岡山県の吉備津彦神社で一宮神社は吉備津彦神社の分社です。 お神輿は一宮神社の分社です。 This is a festival at Kibitsuhiko Shrine (Ichinomiya Shrine). Kibitsuhiko Shrine is in Okayama Prefecture, and Ichinomiya Shrine is a branch shrine of Kibitsuhiko Shrine. The mikoshi is a branch shrine of Ichinomiya Shrine. 映像が悪い所が多々あります、すみません。 There are many bad parts in the video, sorry. 皆さん、撮影にご協力ありがとうございました。 Thank you to everyone who cooperated with the filming. • ベタ: o 狂言面の「武悪（ぶあく）」面を模しています。 o 平たい顔が特徴で、この「べたっとした」形から「ベタ」、ひいては祭りの名前「ベッチャー」の語源になったとも言われています。 o 手に持った「祝棒」で人々を突き、突かれると安産などの御利益があるとされています。 • Betta: o It is modeled after the "Buaku" mask from the Kyogen genre. o It is characterized by its flat face, and it is said that this "flat" shape is the origin of the word "beta" and even the festival's name, "Becha." o It pokes people with the "celebration stick" it holds, and being poked by it is said to bring good fortune such as an easy childbirth. • ソバ: o 能面の「大蛇（おろち）」面（女の大蛇の化身）を模しています。 o ソバという呼称は、最初にこの面を被った人物が蕎麦屋だったことに由来すると伝えられています。 o 手に「ささら」と呼ばれる竹の棒を持っています。 • Soba: o This mask is modeled after the Noh mask "Orochi" (the incarnation of a female giant snake). o It is said that the name "Soba" comes from the fact that the first person to wear this mask was a soba noodle shop owner. o The mask holds a bamboo stick called a "sasara" in its hand. o • ショーキー: o 天狗面や猿田彦（さるたひこ）面を模しており、高い鼻と赤い顔が特徴です。 o 神輿渡御の先導役・先祓役として登場します。 o 手に持った「ささら」で頭を叩かれると、頭が良くなると言われています。 • • Shoki: • o Modeled after a Tengu or Sarutahiko mask, it features a high nose and a red face. • o It appears as the leader and purifier of the portable shrine procession. • o It is said that if you are hit on the head with the sasara (wooden stick) held by the Shoki, you will become smarter. これら3体の鬼神が、神輿と共に尾道の町を練り歩き、子どもたちを追い回したり、持っている棒で叩いたり突いたりすることで、無病息災や子宝、学業成就などの御利益をもたらすと信じられています。 These three demons parade through the town of Onomichi together with the portable shrine, chasing children and hitting and poking them with the sticks they are holding, and it is believed that they bring blessings such as good health, fertility, and academic success. 尾道ベッチャー祭公式サイト https://onomichi.main.jp/betcha/ 尾道ベッチャー祭 https://onomichi.main.jp/betcha/ 撮影日： 2025年11月3日 Photo taken on November 3, 2025
