Glacier Peak Climb - Washington State

Glacier Peak, otherwise known as Dakobed and Takobia by Native Americans, is the fourth tallest mountain in Washington and the second most dangerous. It has produced some of the largest and most explosive eruptions in the history of the Pacific Northwest. Of all the large stratovolcanoes, Glacier Peak is the most isolated. Most climbers require several days to reach its summit. We were fortunate during our mid-July trek and climbed through the clouds at 8000’ to be greeted with bright sunshine and a view that made you feel on top of the world. The awesome experience of climbing Glacier Peak is hard to describe in words, and something we will cherish the rest of our lives.
