Intermediate Mat Pilates
Description: Filmed in Font Romeu at the Rio Olympics holding camp for the British Endurance Athletes. This Workout is a typical session that I teach from my garden at home but with a slightly more spectacular background. The session consists of a standing warm-up with proprioception exercises to ground down through the feet, gluteus medius exercises and upper body stretches. The matwork then consists of seated abdominal work, deep abdominal isolation, abdo prep / crunch description then practice then more abdominal work incorporating the obliques and rectus abdominis in double leg tabletop position. The Glutes will then be worked to exhaustion in side lying and all of this then put into action in standing followed by a few stretches. This type of workout should be done 3x per week along with some higher intensity work that gets your heart rate up a little more. This could be cardio or a HiiT workout. I would suggest some of my classes here on my YouTube channel as they are safer on the joints than many other HiiT Workouts.
