“Choirs & Places Where they Sing” 7: All Saints’ Margaret Street 1967 (Michael Fleming)
BBC radio broadcast on 1 October 1967, featuring the choir of All Saints’ Margaret Street, London, directed by Michael Fleming. Introduced by Sir John Betjeman. This was the seventh edition of an 11-part weekly series intended as a follow-on to an earlier series called “Britain’s Cathedrals and their Music”, which had focused on cathedrals alone, whereas “Choirs and Places” featured mainly non-cathedral choirs. A planned 12th programme from the Temple Church in London was never completed. 1. Praise to thee, Lord Jesus (Heinrich Schütz) 2. Gloria “Coronation Mass” (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) 3. Justorum animae (Charles Villiers Stanford) 4. Cortège et Litanie (Marcel Dupré)* 5. Agnus Dei “Liturgy of St John Crystostom” (Sergei Rachmaninov) 6. Quando corpus morietur / Amen (Giovanni Battista Pergolesi) 7. Eram quasi agnus (Tomás Luis de Victoria) played by Michael Fleming
