This is a video of cherry blossoms in full bloom at Kitakami Tenshochi, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot in Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture. Kitakami Tenshochi is a park located along the Kitakami River that flows through Kitakami City, and its official name is Kitakami City Park Tenshochi. These cherry trees were planted as part of a cherry blossom planting project carried out in 1920 (Taisho 9). Currently, there are approximately 10,000 cherry trees in bloom on a site of approximately 29,300 square meters, and the row of cherry trees, some over 80 years old, stretches for approximately 2 km. It has also been recognized as one of the 100 best cherry blossom spots in Japan by the Japan Cherry Blossom Association, and is counted as one of the "Three Great Cherry Blossom Spots in Michinoku," along with Hirosaki Park in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, and Kakunodate Samurai Residence Street in Senboku City, Akita Prefecture. Data shot with a BMPCC6K was converted to 4K HDR and footage was created that was divided into daytime scenery and the fantastical illuminated cherry blossoms at night.
