The Book of Acts discusses one of the most terrifying events of divine judgment: the death of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5). The Church was in its infancy, and throughout the beginning of God's plan of salvation, there was rigidity toward holiness, as seen in Nadab, Abihu, and Achan. It is not fear that God desires to instill in people, but awe and reverence before His presence. Barnabas, a Levite from Cyprus, sold his property and, out of love, decided to donate all the proceeds to those in need, while the aforementioned couple desire glory and honor within the Church. Lying, whether big or small, cannot be tolerated in Christian circles, despite it being a lack of character for someone to choose to lie. Jesus ruled out universal fatherhood, since those who lie are children of the devil. Lying is a sin listed in Revelation along with sexual immorality, dogs, and thieves.
