In this video, we present the hearing of yet another lawsuit filed by the Maranata Christian Church (ICM) against one of its former members—Vanderli Gonçalves Souza, who served the institution for nearly 30 years. Vanderli's "crime"? Expressing, in a closed Facebook group, criticism of the leadership's authoritarian stance, which severely disciplines members for trivial acts—such as drinking wine, women wearing long pants, or minor differences of opinion—while maintaining pastors in leadership who have been accused by the Public Prosecutor's Office of criminal conspiracy, fraud, embezzlement of tithes, and threats to witnesses. The lawsuit is sponsored by attorney and pastor Isaías Diniz Nunes, who also represents the church in dozens of other lawsuits against former members. Once again, the church's "official" witness is the same as always: a deacon employed by the institution itself, revealing the pattern of predatory litigation and the lack of impartiality in these trials.
