We're heading to Positano, one of the beautiful towns on the Amalfi Coast, built on the slope of a mountain, at the foot of which lies a beach lapped by the Tyrrhenian Sea. The journey from Sorrento to Positano is filled with picturesque views, but also with numerous hairpin bends and narrows along this extraordinary route. What can you expect in Positano during the rainiest season? Unforgettable views while strolling up the countless staircases winding through the town's narrow streets. The focal point, visible from every point, is the majolica dome of the Chiesa Santa Maria Assunta. Inside the church, you'll find an icon, which is connected to the legend of the town's founding. Next to the church is a freestanding tower, and nearby is the Villa Romana Archaeological Museum. The square next to the church offers a beautiful view of the beach and the dock, where excursion boats depart in summer. Spiaggia Grande, as its name suggests, is the largest in the city. Via Positanesi d'America, with its breathtaking views, leads to the tiny, charming Spiaggia Arienzo beach, and then to the quiet Spiaggia Fornillo. We'll also see two towers: Torre Trasita and, further out into the sea, Torre Fornillo. We'll have lunch at Le Tre Sorelle and dessert at Delizzie al limone at Paradise. After a hearty meal, it's time to relax on the beach, soaking up the sun and listening to the waves. And then it's time to head to the bus stop to return to Sorrento, admiring the town in the glow of the afternoon sun along the way. Enjoy :) W.
