When A Town Thought Snow - 1976 History of Skiing in Aspen

An early GrassRoots and Aspen Historical Society documentary compiles historical footage with narration by Ted Ryan who built the first boat tow up Aspen Mountain and developed the Ashcroft Nordic Ski Area. The film covers the development of Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, Snowmass and Aspen Highlands ski areas. Know Aspen. Watch GrassRoots. GrassRoots TV programming is entirely funded by direct contributions from members of the Roaring Fork Valley community, and through grants from the City of Aspen Community Non-Profit Grant Program, Pitkin County Healthy Community Fund, The Town of Snowmass Village and The Aspen Thrift Shop.
