It turns out the victim was also being pursued by the thief. The arrest was recorded by a passing motorist. The victim, identified as IP, initially reported the motorcycle missing to the Setiabudi Police on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. However, due to having to wait in line and the GPS tracking his motorcycle was nearly dead, IP decided not to file a report. He admitted that when he filed the report, the police were still receiving reports from other residents. Therefore, IP decided to pursue the matter himself. IP then headed to the Tomang area with an online motorcycle taxi (ojol). He then noticed a Luxio car that looked suspicious. When he tried to knock, the passenger window was opened. That's when IP saw the motorcycle's handlebars inside. Caught off guard, the car accelerated. Shortly afterward, the perpetrator's car was stopped by a group of Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) officers who happened to be passing by and saw the reckless driving. In a circulating video, several Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers in full uniform are seen surrounding a Daihatsu Luxio minibus. Two perpetrators, who were not wearing shirts, were asked to sit on the side of the road. Both of their faces were bruised. In response to the viral video, the Head of the Sengkang Timur Police, AKBP Ardiansyah, clarified reports that his officers were reportedly slow to respond to motorcycle theft reports. If it is true that by the time the victim filed the report, the officers had only received another report. Currently, two motorcycle thieves with the initials SP (39) and (29) have been named as suspects and are being held at the Setiabudi Police Station Detention Center.
