[Sermon Summary] Introduction Just as we feel a sense of loss when we drop a new cell phone and the screen shatters into pieces, our lives and faith also sometimes break apart between firm resolve and repeated failures. The Israelites, too, broke their promise to God through the worship of the golden calf idol, and even the stone tablets of the covenant thrown by Moses were shattered into pieces. In a moment of despair where it seemed everything was over, Pastor Baek Geum-bu proclaims today, through the message of Exodus, the amazing grace of God's restoration in His calling to His people behind the broken stone tablets, saying, "Prepare the tablets again and come up to Me." 1. Embrace the fragments of your broken failure and ascend the mountain of grace once again: (God commanded Moses to personally carve blank stone tablets, holding him accountable for his sin, yet at the same time, He opened a path for restoration. We cannot renew a broken life by our own determination and will alone. When we approach God holding the blank tablets, just as we are—wounded and failed—the Lord Himself inscribes grace upon our lives once more.) 2. Be embraced in the merciful bosom of the Father, who rejoices in forgiveness rather than judgment: (God proclaimed Himself as a "merciful and gracious God" at the very place of despair where Israel had most severely betrayed Him. Just as the resurrected Lord sought out Peter, who had collapsed after denying Jesus three times, and restored his mission, our God is not a perfect man, but the One who raises up those who acknowledge their shortcomings, cling to grace, and rise again.) Conclusion "God does not tell you to put the broken pieces back together; He Himself inscribes them on new stone tablets." Do not struggle to heal past memories of failure and broken wounds with your own strength. I bless the members of Smyrna Church to become believers who approach the Lord with an empty heart, accompanied by the sincere confession, "Lord, I cannot do it," and experience God's love, which engraves new grace upon our failures. [Sermon Summary] Introduction Just as a shattered phone screen brings a sense of loss and frustration, our lives and faith often break amidst repeated cycles of resolution and failure. The Israelites broke their covenant with God by worshipping the golden calf, resulting in Moses shattering the stone tablets. In a moment that seemed like the absolute end, Pastor Geumbu Baek shares through the book of Exodus how God did not give up on His people. Instead, He reveals His incredible grace of restoration by calling out, "Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and come up to me." 1. Hold onto your broken pieces and climb the mountain of grace again: (By commanding Moses to prepare the blank stones himself, God showed that sin has consequences, yet He simultaneously opened a path to restoration. We cannot fix our broken lives through sheer willpower alone. When we come to God just as we are, carrying our empty and broken slates, the Lord Himself will engrave His grace upon our lives once again.) 2. Rest in the merciful arms of the Father, who delights in forgiveness over judgment: (Right where the Israelites committed their greatest betrayal, God proclaimed Himself as 'compassionate and gracious.' Just as the resurrected Jesus sought out Peter—who had denied Him three times—to restore his calling, our God does not seek perfect people. He raises up those who acknowledge their shortcomings and cling to His grace to rise again.) Conclusion “God does not ask us to glue the shattered pieces back together; He writes anew on a blank slate.” Do not try to fix your past failures and brokenness on your own. Come before the Lord with an empty heart, confessing, “Lord, I cannot do this,” and may the congregation of Smyrna Church experience the love of God who engraves His renewing grace over all our failures.
