How To Fabricate a Neurovascular Implant - Part 1: Braiding
This video is part of the lecture "Neurovascular Implant Development" of the Institue of Biomedical Engineering (BMT) at the University of Stuttgart. In this course, students in the Master of Medical Engineering program learn the process of designing, fabricating, and testing an implant to treat brain aneurysms. The first part shows how a cylindrical implant (stent) is manually braided from a nitinol wire and how the shape can be fixed by heat treatment.
