Outwitting Nathan Bedford Forrest at the Battle of Tupelo | History Traveler Episode 471

Following the Union disaster at the Battle of Brice's Crossroads, Union forces under General A.J. Smith set out from Memphis to hunt down Nathan Bedford Forrest in an attempt to keep him from disrupting the supply lines for General William T. Sherman as he was closing in on Atlanta. Where Smith would catch up with Forrest was just to the west of Tupelo, Mississippi in what would become one of the more underrated campaigns of the war.
