Simone de Beauvoir — La mujer que se atrevió a ser libre | Documental

Simone de Beauvoir was much more than the author of a celebrated book: she was the woman who dared to ask what it means to be free and what it means to be a woman, and who dedicated her entire life to answering both questions. In this biographical documentary, we trace her complete life, from the girl raised in bourgeois Paris at the beginning of the twentieth century to the thinker who shook the foundations of the West and whose work continues to be read and discussed throughout the world. Throughout this journey, we rigorously reconstruct the major milestones of her life: her comfortable childhood and the family's ruin after the First World War, the loss of faith, her years of study at the Sorbonne, and her brilliant achievement of passing the agrégation in philosophy as the youngest candidate of her time. We analyze the decisive encounter with Jean-Paul Sartre and the pact that defined one of the most unique and discussed relationships of the century, as well as the early death of her friend Zaza, a wound that would fuel her subsequent struggle. The documentary pays special attention to the genesis and significance of *The Second Sex*, the work published in 1949 that revolutionized thinking about the female condition. We examine her method, her famous assertion that one is not born, but rather becomes, a woman, the scandal it provoked, and the triumph that followed. We also address her major political battles during the Cold War and decolonization, her feminist commitment in the 1970s, and her reflections on love, aging, and death, always from an educational, balanced perspective that respects different historical interpretations. An episode designed for a curious adult audience that wants to understand not only the events of an exceptional life, but also the ideas that sustained it and the legacy she left for future generations.
