Indian American Sunny Gurpreet Singh's RoundGlass Foundation planting a billion trees in Punjab
RoundGlass Foundation, founded by Indian American philanthropist Sunny Gurpreet Singh, is spearheading an ambitious initiative, with the audacious goal of planting a billion trees in the Indian state of Punjab by 2035. Since its inception in 2019, the Plant for Punjab initiative has successfully planted over 1.3 million trees in more than a thousand villages, creating mini-forests and providing temporary employment to thousands. It focuses on intelligent planting, emphasizing the use of endemic and medicinal trees to attract biodiversity. Speaking to the American Bazaar, Sunny Singh says he envisions the project transforming Punjab into one of the greenest regions globally, with collateral benefits including waste management, composting, organic manure, regenerative farming, and solar projects contributing to environmental sustainability. The Plant for Punjab initiative also aims at cleaning up water tables, soil, and air, leading the way to a greener and more environmentally conscious Punjab.
