In The War of the Worlds the surviving humans discover that the Martians have mysteriously died and their terrifying invasion has suddenly come to an end. The once unstoppable tripods stand silent and abandoned across the ruined landscape, while fear slowly gives way to disbelief and cautious relief. After weeks of devastation and despair, humanity realises the conquerors no longer hold power over the Earth. (Verse 1) The silent tripods towered still beneath the ashen sky, No dreadful heat rays answered and no engines thundered by. The fearful few who wandered through the ruins scarred and grey, Began to sense a change within the world that dreadful day. (Verse 2) The Martians lay unmoving where their mighty works had ceased, Their conquest ended suddenly and all their terror released. No voice could first explain it and no witness understood, How powers once unconquered now lay fallen where they stood. (Chorus) The Martians had fallen silent and their reign had reached its end, The force that broke the nations could no longer rise again. And through the shattered stillness there began at last to grow, A fragile sense of wonder none had dared before to know. (Verse 3) The empty streets and valleys no longer shook with dread, For all the towering engines stood abandoned now instead. The fear that gripped the survivors slowly loosened from their minds, As proof of mankind’s deliverance spread before their eyes. (Verse 4) Yet still the world remained transformed beneath the clouded air, And all who saw the fallen forms approached with cautious care. For after all the horror and the ruin left behind, It seemed almost impossible such power could decline. (Chorus) The Martians had fallen silent and their reign had reached its end, The force that broke the nations could no longer rise again. And through the shattered stillness there began at last to grow, A fragile sense of wonder none had dared before to know. (Bridge) No final battle claimed them and no earthly weapon won, The mighty invaders faded like a shadow from the sun. And all the broken remnants of the race that had survived, Stood staring at the silence scarcely trusting they were alive. (Outro) So through the ruined country where despair once held command, There spread the strange realisation that mankind still held the land. And though the scars remained beneath the dim and darkened sky, The Martian reign had ended and their dreadful age had died. #scifimusic #scifi #metal #thrash #waroftheworlds #aliens
