The Chernobyl nuclear disaster is the worst nuclear disaster ever. The accident occurred on April 26, 1986, near the Ukrainian cities of Chernobyl and Pripyat. Reactor 4 of the nuclear power plant exploded during this accident. This happened in the middle of the night, when most residents of Chernobyl and Pripyat were asleep. In this video, Teun de Wilt and Koen van den Eventuin explore the causes and consequences of the disaster.
