Until the end of the 1980s, only the last surviving White Guards, their descendants and Soviet dissidents knew about the Russian cemetery in the Parisian suburb of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois. After perestroika and especially since the beginning of the 2000s, this place became famous. Every year, about 30,000 people from all over France and the world come here. This is understandable since such significant figures as the Nobel Prize-winning writer Ivan Bunin, the great film director Andrei Tarkovsky and the bard Alexander Galich are buried here. The Great Rudolf Nureyev himself is also buried here. The genius and rock star of classical ballet, who continues to be considered the greatest dancer in the world thirty years after his death. The Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois cemetery amazes with the number of burials of Russian aristocrats. Here are buried 127 princes and princesses, 67 counts and countesses, over 40 barons and baronesses, as well as two Grand Dukes, deputies of the State Duma, ministers of the tsarist government, White Guards, officers and ordinary soldiers, Cossacks, prominent and inconspicuous participants of the White Army. Here is the grave of the famous ballerina Matilda Kseshinskaya and Prince Felix Yusupov.
