Phillips Street Railroad Crossing, Dyersburg, TN

originally recorded on 4-8-26 Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, 1 pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights. Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, a WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights. After I caught the southbound intermodal train in Trimble, I hopped back on US 51 and chased them down to this crossing on the east side of Dyersburg. Thankfully, I was able to beat them here with a bit of time to spare. Here we see this southbound intermodal train for the second time on this day. After the train passes, you can hear the defect detector just south of this crossing reading-out for it. This crossing is another pretty nice one, featuring a 1980s IC install that's been fairly modernized over the years. In the 2000s, it appears, CN replaced the gate mechanism on the far signal with the current Safetran one. At about the same time, it appears that CN upgraded this crossing to LED. Then, sometime between 2012 and 2019, a few changes occurred here. On the far signal, the left-rear light was replaced with a brand new Safetran 12x24 inch light with a GE Uniform Look LED in it. At about the same time it appears, for whatever reason, that signal also had the arm holding the side lights on it twisted around slightly. On the closer signal, the original Safetran mechanical bell was replaced with the current WCH mechanical bell! Finally, sometime between ‪@EthantheRailfanner‬'s visit here in 2020 and 2024, CN replaced the front-left light and the rear-right light on the far signal with more newer Safetran 12x24 inch lights. The new rear light got another new GE Uniform Look LED in it, while the front light had a Dialight Ball LED reused in it. Thankfully, since then, nothing else appears to have changed to this crossing. I'm glad to see that this crossing still retains its WCH mechanical bell, as its one of the two remaining WCH mechanical bells on the CN Fulton Subdivision. This one definitely sounds quite a bit healthier than the other surviving WCH mechanical bell on this line, admittedly, so hopefully it's here for plenty more years to come.
