DIY Linoleum Rug
KEN: Hi I’m Kenneth Wingard from Home Made Simple on OWN. Today I’m going to show you how take ordinary linoleum flooring, and turn it into an area rug. It’s going to be easy to clean and look great. Let’s talk about this carpet. So it’s gorgeous. CLAUDINE: Thank you. KEN: It’s white. CLAUDINE: I pride myself on keeping it clean. KEN: I completely understand Claudine’s issue with eating around the dining room table. With two one year olds at home that get food everywhere, I only feed them in the kitchen. So what I have an idea so that we don’t have to cut up your carpet. CLAUDINE: Oh, ok. KEN: And so that you can actually use your dining room again. CLAUDINE: Tell me. KEN: Is we are going to make a rug for you. CLAUDINE: Make a rug?! KEN: Out of Linoleum. CLAUDINE: What?! KEN: Take a look at this. CLAUDINE: Ok let’s see. That is gorgeous. This is linoleum? KEN: I know, right! CLAUDINE: What- what kind of linoleum store did you go to? KEN: All I did was I went to the flooring store. I actually had them cut it for me to the size I wanted. So all we’re going to need for our linoleum are rug project is a precut piece of linoleum. Some reducer-which you can get at any floor store. Rubber cement, and scissors. And a few clamps or clothespins come in handy. So this is really easy the first step is we’re just going to line this up, and we’re going to cut this at a 45-degree angle. CLAUDINE: Alright, I’ll do the honors. KEN: And you can cut this with a sharp pair of scissors. CLAUDINE: It cuts down pretty easily. KEN: Just take some rubber cement and run it along the recessed edge of the reducer. CLAUDINE: Like this? KEN: There you go. Now let’s flip it over. CLAUDINE: Ok. Teamwork makes the dream work! KEN: And attach it to the linoleum rug. Take some of those clamps. CLAUDINE: And then would I put the clamps on this way? KEN: Yep, put the clamps on that way. Just hold them down. Just repeat this around all four sides. Alright let’s take a look! CLAUDINE: Let me stand back and see. Oh, I absolutely LOVE IT! Oh, this is so wonderful! (SCREAMS,LAUGHS). You did that on purpose. You want to abuse my sensibilities! It’s awesome though. You can just wipe it right up. Right? Although I think I need a broom.
