Cours onduleur | Partie 2

An inverter is a power electronics device that generates alternating voltages and currents from a direct current source. Its operation is distinct from other converters such as AC/AC converters, rectifiers (AC/DC) or DC/DC converters. However, an inverter can be combined with other converters to change their function. The English name for an inverter, 'inverter', comes from the fact that historically, the inverter had the opposite function of a rectifier.
