1JZ-GTE VVT-i Over-Fueling Diagnosis (Ecumaster EMU Black Live Tuning)

We are back down at the unit tackling the non-start and stalling issues on my 1JZ-GTE VVT-i swapped Lexus. After installing our brand-new Kazama Auto upgraded coils and NGK silicone HT leads, the car would fire up but instantly choke, blow thick black soot, smell of raw petrol, and die the exact millisecond I let go of the throttle cable. It sounded like it was running a massive aftermarket race camshaft! Instead of throwing parts at it blindly or risking pulling the spark plugs and hurting the aluminum cylinder head threads, we cracked open the laptop, plugged into the Ecumaster EMU Black standalone ECU, and looked at the live data logs to let the sensors do the talking. What we uncovered was an absolute smoking gun. While the engine temperature and TPS sensors read perfectly, the ECU. We ran a DIY "vape smoke test" to prove the intake tract was 100% airtight, which led us straight to the possibility the VVTi solenoid if bad! Because our manifold vacuum was sitting at a shallow 85 kPa instead of pulling down to a healthy 35-45 kPa, the Speed Density map assumed the engine was under high load and dumped a wall of fuel into a closed engine. This points directly to a classic JZ failure point a stuck-advanced VVT-i solenoid locking the intake cam open at idle We've got a brand new OEM vvti solenoid on order from the guys over at JDM Goodness , along with 7 Litres of high-shear 10W-50 oil and a K&N Performance Gold filter to flush out our fuel-thinned sump.
