Miss Poppy's Lip Smacking Australia Day Watermelon

You little beauty!! It's Australia Day and a time to reflect on our wonderful country brimming with cultural and ecological diversity. Our national day is celebrated during the hottest part of our summer and what could be more iconic than one of our native flappers enjoying watermelon on a hot day. Miss Poppy has just started on tiny pieces of very soft pear colloquially named 'bat lollies' but as an extra treat in the heat, I added a small amount of melon. Once soft released back to the wild, Poppy's diet will include pollen, nectar, blossom, fruit, bark and leaves but for now a juicy piece of melon hits the spot. www.facebook.com/BatzillatheBat/
