Hiking Mulhacen Peak in the Sierra Nevada NP in October - the highest peak in mainland Spain

Pico de Veleta (3,394 m/11,135′) is the highest paved road in Europe and the second-highest peak in Sierra Nevada National Park. The hike was physical and memorable; I partnered with Jose Luis "Montero," an experienced northern Spanish mountaineer, from Veleta to the trailhead.
