When the PC was released, along with documentation and an incentive to produce cards, the wait was short, and almost immediately, memory packages and real-time clocks appeared, features that the first PCs lacked. Interestingly, the oldest cards didn't yet have the so-called "sleeve"—the mounting plate familiar to every computer builder.
