The recently announced 25% tariffs imposed by the United States on Brazil have led Brazilian companies to seek alternatives to the American market. A recent estimate from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) indicated that approximately 18% of Brazilian exports to the US will be affected by the new tariff hike, equivalent to US$7.4 billion (R$37.7 billion). However, representatives from different sectors of the economy believe that diversifying markets takes time, requires investment, and does not avoid immediate impacts on exports, jobs, and revenue.
