Electrostatic levitation- simulation of static equilibrium using Comsol (part 1)
This tutorial shows a 2D axisymmetric model of a sphere levitating by electrostatic attraction. The sphere levitates between 2 parallel plates. A certain level of electric potential needs to be applied to the top plate such that the electrostatic force exerted on the sphere balances the weight of the sphere. This value is unknown so the 'global equations' feature should be used to compute it. A stationary study is used. 00:00 Introduction 01:35 Physics 03:15 Defining variables 06:05 Global equation 08:18 Results Please subscribe if you found this video helpful.
