A special gathering foot – available for both industrial and home sewing machines. If you don't have one, topstitch the top edge of the skirt with a loose, wide stitch and manually tighten the thread, which will cause gathering. Basket the top edge manually and tighten the thread. Wrap elastic thread in the bobbin case; the gathering will occur automatically. Process: Sew the elastic. Sew the edge of the tulle (1.20cm). Gather the top edge of the tulle (300cm). Sew the elastic. Optionally, sew a lining of stretch jersey.
