#OurPANDASJourney - The Vilaranda Family
After a family vacation, Julian caught a severe case of impetigo that took over most of his nose. Julian started showing signs of OCD, would start hitting his head, getting "stuck" in places for hours, even going as far as wanting to kill himself. Julian was taken to see doctor after doctor, but it wasn't until the parents showed a video of what they were seeing that doctors started to listen. Here is the story of their PANDAS Journey. #OurPANDASJourney PANDAS (Pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections) is an autoimmune disease that affects 1 in 200 children. It is commonly misdiagnosed as a mental health issue opposed to a medical issue. Many parents spend years searching for doctors who will acknowledge and treat PANDAS, all the while their child is left to suffer from the debilitating disease. It is time for medical professionals to become aware of PANDAS and begin with helping to treat these families. This is one of many families' journeys with PANDAS. #pandasjourney #pandas #pans #stolenchildhood ----------------- Watch Stolen Childhood: www.stolenchildhood.wixsite.com/stolenchildhood/watch Facebook: / stolenchildhood2018
