What Happens When PANDAS/PANS is Left Untreated / Inappropriately Treated? (BGE)
Without appropriate treatment, people with PANDAS/PANS suffer needlessly. In the USA, UK and in many other parts of the world, PANDAS/PANS are very misunderstood. Although in the US they do have some treatment centres and more specialists who know more about IVIG and Plasma Exchange (although it can be hard to get insurance to cover it in the US unfortunately). But I feel that the UK needs treatment centres, specialists and places where more people with PANDAS/PANS can recieve IVIG and other treatments, like how it is done in America. However, improvements are also needed in the USA, mainly around insurance coverage for PANDAS/PANS treatment and certain hospitals being more aware of the conditions. It is heartbreaking to see people in the community suffering with debilitating and torturous symptoms and struggling to get help. People with PANDAS/PANS can go into remission and can have their life back when the right treatment is given. Watch this video to learn more. There is hope! Early treatment can prevent years of suffering, but I feel that recovery is possible even when treatment is given later on, but people should not have to wait and endure this waking nightmare in that time.
