More mainline diversions at Rhoose on the Vale of Glamorgan line, South Wales, UK 19/10/2024

Here is a follow on video to    • Mainline diversions at Rhoose on the Vale ...   The following weekend, mainline trains on the South Wales mainline between Cardiff and Bridgend were diverted onto the secondary route via Barry, Rhoose and Llantwit. This time I videoed from station at Rhoose, which was reopened in 2004 after the original was closed in 1964. There is pretty much nothing left of the original station, which had an up platform opposite the one I was standing on. The new station has platforms staggered either side of a level crossing, which is quite an unusual arrangement. Trains come through here at 50-60mph, which isn't that fast, but good enough to get some dramatic footage. It was pretty busy, with 21 trains between 14:00 and 16:25. There are usually two per hour! Finally, here is a shout out to the famous Rhoose Christmas tree. It has been growing between the tracks for years and although not exactly thriving, it proves it is always Christmas in Rhoose!
