From the moment I arrived, I was surrounded by breath taking Islamic architecture, towering blue domes, and intricate mosaics that make this one of the most beautiful cities in Central Asia. Walking through its historic streets and famous squares, it quickly became clear why Samarkand has been one of the most important cultural crossroads of the Silk Road for centuries. One of the highlights of my time here was meeting local people and experiencing the warmth and hospitality that Uzbekistan is so well known for. I spent time speaking with friendly locals, practicing and learning bits of the Uzbek language, and having genuine conversations that made the experience feel far more meaningful than simply sightseeing. The kindness and openness of the people added a whole new layer to the trip and made me feel truly welcome in the city. Along the way, I also explored Samarkand’s incredible artisan culture, discovering handmade crafts, detailed artwork, and traditional craftsmanship passed down through generations. From vibrant markets to stunning mosques and madrasas decorated with extraordinary tilework, every corner of the city felt like a masterpiece.
